This data provides a historical snapshot of data from the 2011 Australian Census. It was the result of a trial by the Western Australian Land Information System (WALIS) to spatially enable Australian Bureau of Statistics Census data to make the raw data (a collection of CSV files) more easily consumable by users working with geospatial data and information.
The three GeoPackages attached represent the full Basic Community Profile series published as part of the 2011 Census. It contains a series of tables showing the characteristics of persons, families and dwellings in a selected geographic area. The data is based on place of usual residence (that is, where people usually live, rather than where they were counted on Census night).
The data was produced on a "best effort" basis and has not gone through extensive quality control checks. Known issues include:
- Tables in the Suburbs package (SSC) are missing several polygons over South Australia and New South Wales.
We recommend cross-checking with the authoritative Census data available from the Australian Bureau of Statistics 2011 Census data homepage.
