CCC Floreat Beach Survey 2018-2022 Report -...
i. This document reports on aerial surveys of Floreat Beach undertaken by ‘drone’ (more formally, ‘RPAS – Remotely Piloted Aircraft System’) conducted by drone operators ‘RemSense’, ‘OmniDrone’ and then ‘GeoCue’, sequentially over the period 2018 to 2022. ii. This report compares the findings across the 2018 to 2022 surveys at discrete sections of Floreat Beach, to illustrate and quantify dune erosion and accretion differences for these beach sections. The tidal and environmental conditions at the time of these surveys, and between these surveys, were not necessarily similar or consistent and this report does not represent that the findings for this 2018-2022 period can be extrapolated linearly across future years or extrapolated across other sections of adjacent beach. iii. In that this report has been generated within the time and budget constraints of a trial project, to assess drone survey and data analysis capabilities for ongoing adoption by CCC, the analysis and figures presented within this report are only a subset of what can be generated from the drone data now gathered and available, 2018 to 2022. This report provides sample outputs only to illustrate drone survey capabilities for ongoing dune topography measurement and analysis. iv. This final report’s format and content are based on an earlier, preliminary report, by OmniDrone for CCC, covering the RemSense and OmniDrone dune surveys performed up to 17-Aug-21, entitled “Floreat Beach Dunes Survey by RPAS (‘drone’) – Survey Report for 17-Aug-21 – Between Paths CMB12 & CMB15”. v. All drone surveys were conducted in accordance with work instructions and guidance provided by CCC, and in accordance with CASA regulatory requirements for commercial drone operations.
