Municipal shire waste 2015-16
MSW production figures were obtained from the Waste Authority of WA ‘2015-16 Census of Western Australian local government waste and recycling services’ report. From this report two figures were obtained for MSW production per capita for 2015-16 which were;
• 541kg/capita for metropolitan SA2’s
• 692kg/ha for regional SA2’s.
These two figures were then used in combination with the population data to calculate total annual MSW production for each SA2 region, with the relevant MSW figure used depending on whether the SA2 was metro or regional. Limitations
This data is an average across metropolitan and regional SA2’s. There would most likely be considerable variability between larger regional centres like Albany or Bunbury and smaller more remote centres as well as within the SA2 boundaries. This should be taken into account when viewing or using the data.
