Red Crab Migration Infrastructure - Crab Barriers – 2012

This layer shows the location of red crab barriers on Christmas. It was provided by to Geoscience by Christmas Island National Park staff in July 2012 as a shapefile.

The only changes made to the data were to move eight grid points to line up with the orthophotography. For these edited points, the ‘x’ and ‘y’ fields were updated using the Field Calculator in Quantum GIS. Attributes include; road name, fence name, type of infrastructure and x and y coordinates.

Positional accuracy is high as the layer was based on the 2011 orthophotography. However, crab barrier placement may be subject to change. This data has not been updated since 2012.
