[RETIRED] Swan Coastal Plain Remnant Vegetation 2020 (DPIRD-093)

THIS DATASET IS PENDING RETIREMENT AND WILL BE REPLACED BY DWER SERVICES ON OCTOBER 2 2025

The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) we be publishing the Swan Coastal Plain and Perth-Peel native vegetation extent for the years 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, 2020 and 2024.

      For more information see - Data.wa.gov.au Status - https://status.data.wa.gov.au/incidents/lk2rkywcxmxn

The mapped area covers the Metropolitan and Peel Region Schemes, the Swan Coastal Plain bioregion as defined in the Interim Biogeographic Regionalisation of Australia V 7.1 (Commonwealth of Australia, 2025) and the Swan Coastal Plain vegetation complexes (DBCA-046) (Department of Parks and Wildlife, 2016).

The DWER data products expanded and updated similar Swan Coastal Plain products published by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) in 2021. As a result, DPIRD is retiring the following products:

      • Swan Coastal Plain Remnant Vegetation 2000 (DPIRD-089)
      • Swan Coastal Plain Remnant Vegetation 2005 (DPIRD-090)
      • Swan Coastal Plain Remnant Vegetation 2010 (DPIRD-091)
      • Swan Coastal Plain Remnant Vegetation 2015 (DPIRD-092)
      • Swan Coastal Plain Remnant Vegetation 2020 (DPIRD-093)

The DWER native vegetation extent datasets for the Swan Coastal Plain, Metropolitan and Peel Region Scheme areas will include:

      • Swan Coastal Plain and Perth-Peel Native Vegetation Extent 2000 (DWER -136)
      • Swan Coastal Plain and Perth-Peel Native Vegetation Extent 2005 (DWER -137)
      • Swan Coastal Plain and Perth-Peel Native Vegetation Extent 2010 (DWER -138)
      • Swan Coastal Plain and Perth-Peel Native Vegetation Extent 2015 (DWER -139)
      • Swan Coastal Plain and Perth-Peel Native Vegetation Extent 2020 (DWER -140)
      • Swan Coastal Plain and Perth-Peel Native Vegetation Extent 2024 (DWER -141)

Swan Coastal Plain Remnant Vegetation in 2020. Part of a suite of polygon datasets that best represents remnants of original pre-1750 vegetation on the Swan Coastal Plain (DBCA-046) as at 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015 and 2020. The polygons represent interpreted areas of vegetation using current and historical digital aerial photography (1953-present) sourced from Landgate, Digital globe and Google. Simplified condition of the vegetation has been attributed.
