Threatened and Priority Fauna (DBCA-037)

The records shown in this data set have been derived from the following two databases: 1. The WA Threatened and Priority Fauna Database which contains records of observations of any fauna listed as threatened under the Wildlife Conservation Act 1950 or listed on the Dept. of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) Priority Fauna List. This data is maintained by DBCA. 2. The DBCA Fauna Survey Database which contains records of Western Australian fauna from sources including historical reports, DBCA staff, survey data from major projects, consultants, and the general public that are licence holders. This data is managed by DBCA. The information is used to assist the Department with the management of fauna populations especially in relation to proposed land developments or activities likely to impact on fauna and fauna habitat. Data and/or information from the database can be accessed by written request to the Principle Zoologist, Species and Communities Branch. Detailed location information for individual species is generally kept confidential unless direct conservation benefits to the species can be demonstrated.

Please note that the data custodians have requested that the view only be visible at scales smaller than 1:200, 000. At scales larger than 1:200, 000, the data will not display - this is to prevent users from zooming in and being able to identify land parcels where a threatened species may exist - this view has been placed on SLIP as a WMS service only to provide an indicator of where a threatened species may be found. If further information is required, the Species and Communities Branch should be contacted via: fauna.data@dbca.wa.gov.au

Please also see the following webpage published by the Species and Communities Branch, which provides further information and contact details for all threatened species data and associated data searches/requests. http://www.dpaw.wa.gov.au/plants-and-animals/threatened-species-and-communities/

Please note that search results can take up to 10 working days to complete.
