      WA Now Mosaic (LGATE-320)

This base layer imagery is a whole of state layer configured as a flattened and seamless single service. The primary consideration in determining the hierarchy of the mosaics within this service is 'resolution'. The 'best available' will be used where possible.

Occasionally this may come at the expense of 'currency' and sometimes there may be an overlap with lower resolution or older images.

WA Now imagery can be used as a background in conjunction with other data services to provide a spatial reference. It is comprised of the current 1:100k aerial imagery tiles, aboriginal community, regional and town site mosaics, as well as the Perth Metro metropolitan mosaic. It now also includes the eastern extremities of Christmas Island.

The currency of the individual mosaics is a function of the demand for imagery in those locations. Some 'current', albeit remote 1:100k imagery map tiles maybe up to 20 years old. However aboriginal communities and town site mosaics that sit within the respective 1:100k tiles can be quite recent. Perth Metro imagery will be a maximum of 6 months old, typically captured in summer and winter each year.

ArcMap users can separate out individual and different resolution images in their entirety or view parts of the image that are otherwise obscured by an overlap.

      Fees Apply

Datasets are generally available for use by everyone but require payment of a subscription or once-off fee. Typically, this is due to a legislative requirement in the enabling acts for Statutory Authorities requiring them to provide a return to the state, or a commercial decision by Government Trading Enterprises.

Payment is managed by the organisation publishing the data. Please contact the data publisher via the Request Access button to enquire about access and fees.

Be sure to carefully read the licence information provided to understand any restrictions on use and what your responsibilities are as a user of the data.
